Dunk! Festival 2024

The 2024 edition pushed the festival’s boundaries outward without losing its centre. The post-rock backbone was still there in headline sets from This Will Destroy You and Sleepmakeswaves, but the booking widened to include Korean noise-rock from Jambinai, ambient electronics from Arms and Sleepers, sludge-tinged heaviness from Dvne and Conjurer, and Emma Ruth Rundle’s quiet devastation. A weekend that worked equally well as a deep-listening retreat or a wall-of-sound event, depending on which stage you wandered toward. As ever, the secret of Dunk! is the curation: forty-five acts that all somehow speak the same emotional language, even when the genres look nothing alike on paper.
