About this set
Indie rock bands thrived in 2010s Singapore and chief among them was Stopgap, whose sound, characterised by their catchy hooks, anthemic choruses and earnest lyrics, was emblematic of the era. Formed in 2011 by vocalist Adin Kindermann, guitarists Yew Jin Lee and Calvin Phua, bassist Grayson Seah and drummer Eldad Leong, the band was prolific both in their achievements and live performances. They won the 2013 Noise Singapore Award, madeappearances atmultiple editions of Baybeats and at IGNITE! Festival, toured Australia and India, and garnered regular radio airplay with songs like Crossing Swords from their debut record, Totems. Post-pandemic, the band has steadily rebuilt their momentum, opening for Bombay Bicycle Club in 2024 and dropping singles Transportation Blues and Monolith. In June 2026, the band dropped the aptly titled EP sorry we’re late, an alt-rock record charged with their signature emotionally potent songwriting, exploring themes of urban ennui, burnout, grief, and hope. Returning to Baybeats 2026, Stopgap promises a live show that’s dynamic, loud, and unapologetically honest, with music that’s not just meant to be heard, but felt.
