About this set
TROY is a Belgian rapper, producer and trumpet player at home in the warm atmospheres of soulful and jazzy hip-hop. His music balances between tradition and reinvention, with conscious lyrics as the connecting thread. His work centres not just the beat but the message: reflective, rooted in personal and social observation. Raised on artists like Joey Bada$$ and Malz Monday, TROY learned to carry his message with flows and beats in the mould of the “New School Boom Bap” generation, but he colours outside the lines more and more. Under the influence of innovators like Tyler, The Creator, Childish Gambino and Saba, he deliberately pushes at the edges of hip-hop without letting go of its essence.
