The diligent connoisseur of electronic music probably no longer needs to be introduced to The Orb. The kings—we actually mean: gods!—of the British ambient scene have released 18 partially very different albums, which share above all one thing: this music is more of a trip than a ride—like a well-dosed, perfectly calibrated LSD high, composed with a challenging attention to detail. Their debut album was called “Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld,” which, 35 years ago, launched what soon became the quite powerful ambient wave in the UK—and is now being performed in full once again.
