Inspired by Rastafari and the rich sound system cultures of the UK and Jamaica, Catitah Steppah and Sister Siren deliver deep roots, meditative dub, and heavy steppers. For these two vinyl purists, their custom sound system is far more than just a wall of speakers and amplifiers—it is a spiritual platform for healing, connection, meditation, and sonic resistance against the Babylon system. Their crates are packed with everything from timeless roots classics to fresh releases and exclusive dubplates. On stage, they are frequently joined by Ecuador-born MC Treasure Irie, who elevates the session with live sampling, heavy effects, and powerful chanting. Their musical journey has taken them to Europe’s premier dub gatherings, including DubCamp (France), HIMDub Festival (Portugal), and the Fusion Festival near Berlin. As dedicated cultural activists within the non-profit association Kulturimpuls (Freising), they also co-organize the legendary Rootsbase stage at Fusion, alongside homegrown events like Dubimpuls and the Lioness Awake Roots Café. Since 2008, performing as the Siren Sisters, they have hosted pioneering sessions at Munich’s Feierwerk, launching their regular Omega Dub Circle in 2023. Having welcomed over 100 international artists to their sessions (including Sista Habesha, Jah Vibes, and Dasha Fyah), their core mission remains empowering women and bringing gender balance to a traditionally male-dominated scene. For her relentless grassroots work, Sister Siren founded the all-female collective Lioness Awake in 2019 and was awarded the prestigious Tassilo Prize by the Süddeutsche Zeitung.
