Reasoning Resistance – Debate Culture, Solidarity, and Political Fragmentation In his audiovisual essay-lecture “Reasoning Resistance,” Jiréh Emanuel explores social polarization, digital debate culture, and the vital question of how solidarity can survive despite deep divisions. Drawing from his work as a Black Community Organizer, anti-racism educator, and activist, Jiréh seamlessly blends community experience with sharp social analysis. Using soundscapes, interview snippets, and musical fragments, the lecture examines the impact of social media on political debates and the fragmentation of social movements. Inspired by the tradition of Rastafari Reasoning, this project views critical thinking as an ongoing process of questioning and learning—and as an open invitation to collective dialogue.
