Paul Sies writes songs with big, sweeping melodies that feel like they’re tumbling down a staircase in cardboard boxes — rattling, falling apart, making noise and revealing unexpected things along the way. Part showman, part storyteller, he moves between heartfelt ballads, theatrical outbursts, political observations and strange little memories that appear out of nowhere and somehow make perfect sense. At some point he bought a pile of synthesizers and has been slightly unsure what genre he’s making ever since, but who cares!
