Jatun Mama is a Kichwa electronic music duo from the Andes of Ecuador. The group originated in March 2023 in the Kichwa commune of Turuku, located in Cotacachi – Imbabura. There, Jesús Bonilla, Jatun Mama’s musician and music producer , sought to re-signify the music of Ecuador’s indigenous peoples and nationalities. He achieves this by remixing instruments native to the Andean region with modern sounds and electronic equipment , aiming to convey the power of Kichwa ritual music and celebration.
