Ugandan MC Ecko Bazz is one of the most uncompromising voices to emerge from East Africa’s underground. Closely affiliated with the Kampala-based collective Nyege Nyege and its experimental imprint Hakuna Kulala, he has built a reputation for explosive performances and a raw, confrontational lyrical style delivered in Luganda. Since his breakthrough with Tuli Banyo (2018), Ecko Bazz has continuously pushed the boundaries of regional rap, fusing grime, dancehall, and industrial club music into a sound that is both physically aggressive and politically charged.
