Through drag, storytelling, and speculative world-building, the piece explores what humans might learn from fungi about collaboration, survival and transformation in times of change and collapse. The performance follows an obsessive mycologist searching for answers to human-made destruction. Along the way, he encounters mischievous fungal beings – tricksters, mess-mates, and undergrowth transformers – who challenge his ideas of nature and progress. Mushroom Tales invites audiences into a queer, mycelial future where boundaries dissolve and new ways of living and being emerge. As the mycologist undergoes a metamorphosis, the narrative shifts from survival to symbiosis. Mushroom Tales from the End of the World proposes a posthuman, queer, and relational vision of the future. Come mycelliate!
