About this set
Presented in conjunction with Carnival Fever. Jhen Yue Tang was founded in 2020 and is rooted in Taiwanese folk beliefs, combining the clamorous Beiguan style and rap rhythms with rock and electronic music, with lyrics based on ritual incantations sung in Taiwanese. The band has two albums under their belt, 2021’s Worship Now and 2024’s Royal Progress of the Gods. To flesh out the full ritualistic atmosphere created by their music, the band’s five members don deity-inspired makeup and embroidered skirts depicting dragons and tigers, complete with an altar on stage. This bold reinterpretation of cultural traditions is key to the Jhen Yue Tang’s distinctive style, which has brought them to stages like Colours of Ostrava in the Czech Republic and Fuji Rock Festival in Japan.
